The new sign ordinance #3091

Ordinance #3091 – was discussed at the Village Council meeting on Wednesday Dec 12th during a “second reading”.
The proposed ordinance reads in part:
Section 190-122 (H)(8).
A. Public Interest Signs are defined as any sign that conveys a message that conveys a particular point of view or particular course of action which does not propose a commercial transaction or advance the economic interests of the speaker, but would include signs for charitable, cultural, community, religious or interests of a non-commercial nature.
...
G. To protect the visual aesthetics and character of the community, the Village may require the removal of any Public interest sign(s) if in the judgment of the Building Department, said sign(s) negatively impact the aesthetic quality and character of or area where the sign is location.
H. Any public interest sign which, due to its condition or placement, or which due to its appearance may be confused with law enforcement signs, shall be removed to protect public safety.
The question we were concerned about is; DOES THIS ORDINANCE TARGET THE STOPVALLEY signs?
The proposal was sent back by the Council for amendments, and in response to a question from the public, Mr Pfund explicitly said that STOPVALLEY signs would not be affected by this ordinance (click on the image below).
